Date and Theme
The weather and overall theme of your wedding will impact what your favors will be. For example, you wouldn’t get personalized sunglasses for a winter wedding that is indoors. Likewise, you wouldn’t send your guests home with a mason jar of make your own hot chocolate if you are having a wedding in July. The theme will also inform your favor decision; in general, the fancier the wedding, the fancier the gift. You likely would not give your guests a personalized tote bag for a black tie affair. However, a charitable donation in your guests’ names could be the perfect way to give back!
Many of your guests will be traveling for the occasion. Therefore, something small that can fit in their luggage, and can go on a plane, is a must. You also want to consider that even if they are not traveling a long way, your guests will not want to carry around something heavy or large after the reception! If you decide on food or drink, aim for something miniature and under three ounces of liquid. Great options for this include a s’mores kit, coffee beans, salt water taffy, and more.
While you never want your guests to spend too much time talking about the favor after your wedding, a small mention of how unique or thoughtful it was will go a long way! Anything monogrammed or personalized somehow is a great way to commemorate the day. Fortunately, you can get almost anything monogrammed, from coasters to water bottles. If you don’t want to go the personalized route, something funny yet useful is always a big hit! Put together “hangover kits” for those that are over 21, set out flip-flops for people to change into when it is time to dance, or set up a cookie buffet with take-out containers. Anything that is a creative way to say thank you to everyone who made your day special will make your guests smile.
